The procedure for your new veneers takes place over two visits typically.
During your first visit you’ll have a consultation with your dentist who’ll examine the severity of your teeth and discuss what you want to achieve with your new smile. Your teeth will be prepared by removing a small amount of enamel so your veneers can be fitted correctly.
You’ll be given temporary veneers while you wait for your second appointment as your veneers are made bespoke at our dental laboratory.
When you next visit us we’ll fit your veneers, carry out a check to ensure your smile is straight and the colour matches and we’ll run through some after care requirements you’ll need to consider.

Porcelain veneers are more typically suited to patients with minor misalignments like gaps, rotated teeth or crowding. In some more extreme cases it’s possible your teeth aren’t suitable for veneers and in these cases your dentist will be able to suggest other forms of treatments.
However in most cases we find that it’s possible to fit porcelain veneers.
Are there any risks with crooked teeth?
You might think crooked teeth are just a cosmetic issue affecting your smile, but misaligned teeth can also be the cause of other conditions that can impact your oral health:
• Increased risk of tooth decay: If some of your teeth overlap it can make it harder, or impossible, to clean the entire surface area of your teeth, allowing bacteria to remain and potentially cause decay or gum disease in the future.
• Tooth damage: Crooked teeth increase the risk of wearing out other teeth and your gums, which increases the risk of chipping or cracking your teeth or for your teeth to become more sensitive.
• Mouth and jaw pain: Misaligned teeth can put strain on your jaw resulting in conditions like TMJ along with general aches and pains.
• Eating difficulty: Crooked teeth can make it harder to eat if your teeth become more sensitive or you experience excessive pain biting on harder food.
• Lower confidence: We see it a lot with patients who come to us with crooked teeth that they feel less confident are self conscious about showing their teeth when they talk or smile. It might appear cosmetic, but this can seriously impact your social life.
Will veneers straighten my teeth or just make them look straight?
Porcelain veneers don’t move your teeth, they’re thin porcelain shells bonded to the front surface of your teeth to change their appearance. If your teeth are mildly crooked or misaligned, our veneers create the illusion of proper alignment by altering their shape and size.
How long will my porcelain veneers last?
Porcelain veneers last between 10 and 15 years if you take care of them properly and some can last longer. If you’re prone to behaviour that could damage the veneers like grinding your teeth at night, your dentist might recommend a night guard to protect your teeth and increase the porcelain’s lifespan.
Are porcelain veneers painful?
You’ll be under a local anaesthetic during the enamel preparation so you won’t feel any pain. Some patients have mild sensitivity immediately after treatment but this typically settles after a few days.
